The original artist behind the knotted gun is the Swedish artist Carl Fredrik Reuterswärd, When John Lennon was shot and killed, Yoko Ono asked him to create a tribute to John and his vision of a more peaceful world. That’s how the knotted gun came about. Initially the knotted gun statue was placed at Strawberry Fields memorial in Central Park. It is just across the street from where John Lennon and Yoko Ono lived.
The sculpture now stands in thirty public locations around the world, including the UN Headquarters in NYC. Many prominent artists have made their own unique editions. This handmade necklace is my interpretation..
The gun is cast in solid white bronze with an aged oxidized finish. It is completely three dimensional with an overall length of 1-1/4" and hangs from its chain with the muzzle pointed straight down in a non-threatening manner.
